Gundlach Bundschu Winery
This past Tuesady The Pine hosted another fabulous winemaker dinner featuring the Gundlach Bundschu Winery. We were so excited that Jeff Bundschu was able to come and be our guest for the evening! Jared Blanton created and paired a fabulous 5 course meal to accompany the featured wines.
During the cocktail “hour” a beautiful tray of Spicy Pickled Shrimp Lettuce Wraps were presented and paired with a 2013 Gewürztraminer.
After being taught how to pronounce the Winemaker’s name and learning a small dance everyone was excited to see and taste the good smells coming from the kitchen!
The first course, Rainbow Trout & Heirloom Beets two ways with a Meyer Lemon Brown Butter melted in your mouth leaving you dreaming of more. This course was paired with 2013 Chardonnay
Course two was Fennel Sausage Stuffed Plantation Quail, Herbed Spatzle, Cherry Gastrique paired with 2012 Pinot Noir
Our third delight was C.A.B. Hanger Steak with Leek Bread Pudding, Asparagus, Bordelaise and Blue Cheese Port Butter. This course was paired with a 2012 Merlot.
The fourth and final course came with mouth watering Chocolate Truffles, Espresso Ladyfinger Crumble and Strawberry Granita. This was paired with a 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.
