When we bought this house the only lighting in the kitchen was fluorescent (eek). There was a fluorescent bulb above the sink , one to the left of the fridge and a huge one middle of the ceiling. I love all kinds of lighting, but fluorescent isn’t one.
Before lucking into these sconces, black candelabras hung in their place. These worked fine as decor, but didn’t help with the fluorescent issue.
The first thing I had to do was rewire them and then paint them. I chose paint that would mimic a brushed nickel finish like the hardware in the kitchen.
I was able to use the existing junction box for the old fluorescent light and hardware the sconces to a switch!
After getting them hung I went in search of shade and found some that are white linen.
